Full Moon Ritual for Inner Clarity & Release: A Step-by-Step Guide

1. Prepare Your Sacred Space

  • Cleanse the area by smudging with sage, palo santo, or using a sound bowl to remove stagnant energy.
  • Arrange a small altar with a white candle, a bowl of water (representing the moon), crystals like selenite or moonstone, and a journal.
  • Set a clear intention for the ritual—write it on a slip of paper or speak it aloud before beginning.

2. Ground & Centre Through Breath

  • Stand or sit comfortably, place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly, and take 7 deep, slow breaths.
  • Visualize roots extending from your feet into the earth, anchoring you while the moon’s light fills your crown.
  • Repeat a grounding affirmation: “I am open to receive the moon’s wisdom and release what no longer serves me.”

3. Perform the Release Ritual

  • Light the white candle and hold the bowl of water in your hands; speak aloud what you wish to let go of (fear, doubt, a past hurt).
  • Write each release item on a small piece of paper, then safely burn it in a fireproof dish (or tear it and place in the water to dissolve).
  • As the paper burns or dissolves, say: “I release this with love and gratitude. I am free.”

4. Charge Your Intentions Under the Moon

  • Place crystals, a piece of jewelry, or a written intention on your altar under direct moonlight (or by a window if indoors).
  • Hold your hands over the items and visualize them absorbing the moon’s silver light, amplifying your goals for the coming cycle.
  • Speak your intention in the present tense: “I am calm, I am clear, I attract aligned opportunities.”

5. Journal Your Insights & Gratitude

  • Open your journal and free-write for 5–10 minutes without judgment—capture any images, feelings, or messages that arose.
  • List three things you are grateful for right now, even small ones (e.g., a kind text, a good meal, the moonlight).
  • Close by reading your intention aloud one last time and thanking the moon, your guides, and yourself for showing up.

6. Seal & Close the Ritual

  • Extinguish the candle safely (do not blow it out—use a snuffer or your fingers to honor the flame).
  • Drink a glass of water to ground yourself, then step outside or look at the moon for one final silent moment.
  • Place your charged items where you will see them daily (e.g., bedside table, wallet, under your pillow)
